Istanbul’s Ataturk main international airport, has been left devastated after two explosions and multiple gunfire rocked the airport, leaving over 40 people reportedly injured.
While quoting a Turkish official, Reuters news disclosed that two suicide bombers blew themselves up. Turkey’s NTV news reported that four armed men were reportedly seen running away from the terminal building after the explosions.
According to Reuters reports, the governor of Istanbul has revealed that at least 28 are reported dead from the suicide attack.
However, the UK Guardian has reported that the causality figure has risen to 36. Police have however opened fire to neutralise the suspects at an entry point as witnesses reported hearing gunshots.
Pictures posted on social media from the site showed those injured, lying on the ground inside and outside one of the terminal buildings.
