According to Vanguard, An angry mob yesterday butchered and set a young man on fire in Calabar metropolis, the capital city of Cross River State.
The incident happened around Atu Secondary School which is along Goldie Street and the man was caught after allegedly robbing a woman of a pot of soup while two of his accomplices escape.
The report has it that the 3 men attacked the woman on Sunday morning at No 3 Mayne Avenue Extension in Calabar South and made away with her pot of soup which she was warming for the family to eat before heading to church.
An eye witness reports that the men were making escaping with the soup when the woman raised an alarm and residents gave them a hot chase and eventually catching up with the one carrying the pot, dealing him several machete cuts and setting him ablaze.
“It was almost dawn when the boys attacked the woman and carried her pot of soup and when they were about getting out of the compound, she raised alarm and people came out and pursued them and caught up with this one.

He also added that the boy couldn’t escape with his peers because of the weight of the soup he was carrying, and this gave the mob a better opportunity of catching him.
