A committee has set up by President Buhari with the responsibility to recover all government properties like cars, houses, generators and others that are still in the possession of aides of former president Jonathan even after they have left office.
Revealing this to newsmen on August 16th, the Senior Special Assistant on media & publicity to the president, Garba Shehu, said the committee which will comprise of civil servants and security agents, will soon begin to go recover the properties and that the entire process wasn’t designed to embarrass anyone but rather do what is right and fair to the Nigerian people.
“Even here at the Presidential Villa, there are cars and other property belonging to the government which are yet to be returned. The property belongs to the Nigerian people. We are not trying to humiliate anyone by asking them to return their cars or houses. Imagine how much Nigeria will save by retrieving and re-using these government properties instead of purchasing new ones for new government officials,” he said.
