The former president of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has said that President Goodluck Jonathan needs to use another approach to tackle the Boko Haram insurgency.
Speaking on BBC focus on Africa last night, the former military head of state said Jonathan has tried the carrot and stick approach for too long now and it’s definitely not working and it’s about time he adds something else to the stick.
He said he investigated the sect in 2011 in order to help him handle the negotiations and from what he gathered, the insurgents are very coordinated with lawyers, accountants and ofcourse leaders. Adding that the lawyer he met promised to connect him to their leaders if he was interested.
He added that FG should focus on #BringBackOurGirls now and after which they can launch full scale war on the sect.
