The 2014 budget has come under heavy scrutiny for misappropriation of public funds by a senate member, Sen. Bukola Saraki of the APC.
Saraki pointed out that the presidency has budgeted more money to the Niger Delta militants than to the Army and Police combined.
The budget has N54billion set aside for the Niger Delta Militants under the Presidential Amnesty Programme while the Military and Police got just N46billion in capital allocations.
A breakdown of the figure has the militants numbering 30,000 taking allowance of N23.6billion, while they will also get N35.4billion as reintegration money.
The Army and Ministry of Defense(Army, Air Force and Navy) on the other hand will receive N4.8billion and N34.2billion as capital budgets respectively. While the police gets a paltry N6billion as capital budget.
