From henceforth, the registration fee for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will now be N2,500 as against N5,650 that was paid by prospective university students this year.
This was the resolution passed by Senate at the plenary session today.
The senators also recommended that the validity period of the UTME be extended to three academic years instead of one.
The decision was taken following the adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund on the inquiry into the new admission policy of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
They also resolved to amend the Act establishing JAMB to reflect the extension of the validity period.
